The Threshold of Compassion
There is always a
small
opening
through which
compassion can
seep in to a
conversation,
an act, a
grudge.
It is a pause
in the chatter,
stillness of
motion,
or an easing of
the tension.
It does not appear
for
long,
but when it does,
if you
are not well
versed
in tossing caution
to the wind;
or in leaning
heavily into impulse,
you will walk
right over
it with no
remorse.
You will feel that
your selection of\
the path of stern
position is not
only deserved and
warranted,
but the only way a
man can go.
Each time
that you pass over
this line,
you will be
hardening
your ability to
casually
enter the fray of
compassion.
