enough money
and opportunity
when the oil
was flowing
into the pockets
of the men
of corporate luxury
and disdain.
If there had been
a hole in their pockets
I am sure
that "top-hat"
would have worked.
As it is,
it is starting
to feel that this
unexpected leak
is just an inconvenience
of public image
and a damned nuisance
for profits.
My tears
are with
the earth, and
her children.
Their pockets
can rot
right out
of their hearts.
