It takes work -
a steady and demanding
nurturance
not afraid to show up -
daily.
Incrementally but fully
giving attention to
the stems,
to the soil, to the buds.
Watering freely
with patience and
no reserve.
A less than occasional scent
wafting up
to feed the soul
for all your troubles.
Beauty requires a constant
hand, a continual heart and
a routine soul.
Then,
slowly comes
the rose.
Rapturous,
but slowly.
And,
too soon
is gone. But,
rapturous.
This poem of mine is perfectly paired with a piece by Local Artist MALCOLM CORLEY entitled “THE ROSE”. Malcolm is 22 years old. Malcolm’s painting is used with permission and may be seen amid his full collection at: MALCOLMSTILES.com Malcolm's Tiles
