The golden ginko tree
lay all about herself
upon the ground;
her leaves having
dropped all at once
in the wind and
heavy rains. I knew
last week I would
never see her again,
bedecked in all her
fullness -
if I did not stop
to take a photo
then.
I chose that day instead
to hold her deep within
my view inside
planting her memory
in my heart not
through my lens
upon a screen.
Bright her yellow
blood upon the ground
I hold her still
within. A joyous
glorious grief upon
the seeing of her
life spilled out again
this autumn day.
