If the bees ask
for a time to just
simply “sit a spell”
on
the
edges
of their hive
that they may
just not work
for
one
small
instance
before they die –
living only
twenty-one days or so;
say, “Yes”.
It may be their
only time to see
the world for
something larger
than just the world
within which they are
driven to tend
the queen and make
an endless motion out
of creating honey,
wax, and propolis.
Say, “Yes”.
If the waters
suddenly turn to you
and request they
be allowed to cease
their endless flowing
to the sea
that they might
simply “be” for
one moment
with no
need
to race themselves
onward to the
vanishing point
of their merger with all
drops of endless ocean;
say, “Yes”.
I think they
may need that
singular perspective
before they are
lost into the
great oneness
of life’s tides.
Say, “Yes”.
And,
if by chance
you should
wake one morning
and feel the
urge to stand
in the bank of snow
just beyond your back door
and
to stare up
into the orange gray of
the morning storm
with your mouth and eyes
wide open
and arms
stretched out
at your sides
at your sides
so you might
forget the
madness of
the world you
have created to
sustain yourself on
goods and services
all the day long;
say, “Yes”.
It may be the only
instance
in
time
you will
be given to
peer into
the Great Mystery
that is woven
through every
strand of life –
just
below
the surface
of perceptibility.
Say, “Yes”.
For, that
will assuredly
keep you
in the great
game
of awakened
awe and
wonder -
breathing
the Mystery
into your
cells.
breathing
the Mystery
into your
cells.
Without
that
you are
lost in an
endless,
empty rehearsal
for which
you will
never
know your lines
and never
find your place.
Say, “Yes”,
that there may
shine out
from your eyes
one
small
ray
of
light
that will make
you hunger
for more.
Say, “Yes”
to life’s hunger
for radical
amazement.
amazement.
It will
set
you
free.
“Yes”.
