We Don't

There is a waiting
in the heart -

a waiting for
that next big thing

the next big opening
into growth and
expansion.

There is a waiting
in the heart -

a desire to join
our smallness
with all that is.

Sometimes we
imagine this when
we buy that next thing -

it will remove from
us all of our smallness

all of our broken
pettiness and darkness.

If we could just get that
one thing, we would
be whole at last -

we would be whole
again.

We all ready
have that wholeness

it is in the small
quiet recesses of
the heart itself.

The desire is to
be used to go there -

go to the place
we already own.

We don't.
